Cabin beds have a raised bed base and use the space underneath. There
are two levels - bunk cabin - which has the bed at the position of a top
bunk and mid sleeper which is not so high.
They allow you to maximise the use of space in small rooms by fitting
desks,storage and chairs underneath
The transition from cot to bed is a big step for a child and can be nerve
racking for parents too.
When a baby can climb out of the cot you'll need to move them into a bed
where they can get in and out of safely.
You can make it special by having special bedding they'll like and making
it a celebration of getting a new bed rather than sad because you're saying
goodbye to the cot.

A cot is a special bed which is designed to keep a baby safely in and
prevent them from falling out. They frequently have bars around and a
drop side to enable the baby to be lifted out more easily. Mattresses
should be replaced if the cot is to be reused and one the exact size used.
Junior beds are shorter and lower than normal beds and can be used after
a child stops sleeping in a cot.
When should a child stop sleeping in a cot - usually when they can climb
out - its too dangerous to risk a child climbing and falling from a cot.
Some people lower the mattress as much as possible and then remove the
side.
For safety's sake you can use bed guards and bed rails to make your child
safe in bed when they start on a proper bed. |
